Knowing When to Stop: Layering Scalp and Hair Products
Published
The Limits of Product Layering
Building a thorough grooming routine often means combining different products—a leave-in scalp elixir, a separate hair serum for your ends, and styling products. However, there is a physical limit to what your skin and hair can comfortably hold. Knowing when to stop applying product is crucial for a positive experience with the J.N HERBACEOUS collection.
Heavy Roots vs. Actual Discomfort
If you apply the No02 Flourishing Elixir and your roots feel heavy or look greasy, check the amount used and whether it coated the strands. If there is no discomfort, consider more precise parting and less product next time. Do not assume discomfort is just excess oil.
However, true discomfort is entirely different. If your scalp experiences tingling, itching, redness, or an uncomfortable burning sensation after applying the No01 Anchoring Mist, the No02 Elixir, or any combination of your styling products, this is a clear signal from your body.
The "Wash It Out" Rule
If you experience any physical discomfort or an adverse reaction, do not try to "push through" or wait it out. Stop applying any further styling products immediately. Rinse off the product and stop using it. Avoid adding another new product to an uncomfortable scalp. If symptoms persist or are significant, seek appropriate medical advice.
