Layering Leave-In Scalp Treatments with Hair Styling Products

Treat the Scalp First, Style the Strands Second

A common concern when introducing botanical scalp care into an existing routine is how it interacts with volume sprays, texture pastes, or holding gels. The rule for layering is spatial rather than chemical: apply scalp care to the scalp, and keep strand styling products on the hair.

Focus on Sectioning and Parting

Because the No01 Anchoring Mist and No02 Flourishing Elixir are leave-in skin treatments, part your hair so you can apply them directly to the scalp instead of coating your styled lengths.

  1. Clean and Dry: Whether you are starting a dry morning (for No01) or have just finished washing and blow-drying your hair (for No02), ensure the scalp area is completely dry.
  2. Create Clear Parts: Use your fingers or the tail of a comb to separate your hair, exposing the skin of your scalp. This is the most crucial step to ensure the product goes where it belongs.
  3. Direct Application: Apply the mist or elixir directly along the exposed part lines, being careful not to coat the surrounding hair strands unnecessarily.
  4. Massage and Proceed: Gently massage the product into the scalp with your fingertips. Once applied, you can immediately proceed with applying your styling products to your hair strands, avoiding the root area you just treated.

Maintaining the Separation

Neither No01 nor No02 provides styling hold or volume for your hair. If you rely on styling products for your daily look, you don't need to choose between them and scalp care. Simply maintain clear boundaries: keep the botanical treatments on the skin, and apply your stylers to the lengths of your hair.
