Preventing Greasy Roots When Using Scalp Elixirs

Precision Over Quantity

Applying an oil-based leave-in treatment like the No02 Flourishing Elixir requires a different approach than using a standard hair serum. Because No02 is formulated with a grapeseed oil base meant exclusively for the skin of your scalp, getting it on your hair strands can quickly make your roots look heavy and greasy. If you are noticing oily roots after your routine, consider both the amount used and where it is placed.

Refining Your Parting Technique

One avoidable mistake is applying the elixir without creating clear pathways to the skin.

  1. Create Clean Lines: Use the tail of a comb or your fingers to part your clean, dry hair. Ensure you can clearly see the skin of your scalp before dispensing any product.
  2. Adjust Your Dosage: You only need a very small amount to cover the scalp. If your roots look wet or heavily coated immediately after massaging the elixir in, you have applied too much. In your next session, try a smaller amount.

Fingertip Application vs. Direct Dropping

If you find that dispensing the No02 Elixir directly from the bottle onto your part line results in too much product spilling onto the surrounding hair, change your delivery method. Instead of dropping it onto the scalp, dispense a small amount onto your clean fingertips first. Gently rub your fingertips together, and then press them directly onto the exposed skin of your part lines to massage it in. This gives you more control over where the grapeseed oil goes, keeping it on the skin and off your hair strands.
